Salome Kusterer (Germany) was surprised that Doulos will finish in her very first port—Singapore. Salome was born in 1987 when the ship was in Singapore while her parents were serving onboard. Three years later they went back to Germany. “My friends wondered why I was born in another country and lived on a ship as a baby.” Salome chuckled. During her teens she visited the organisation’s other ship Logos II and dismissed the idea of serving onboard. But things gradually changed. She later joined Doulos in September 2007. “I am so amazed about the circle of life on the ship!” she added. In most ports that the ship has visited during her time, a lot of locals can still remember her as the joyful Doulos baby who is now a Doulos lady!
